Styled in Abstraction: Fashion Through an Unfiltered Lens
Studio 81 was shot inside the Tribeca loft of artist Nancy Pantirer, surrounded by her monumental abstract canvases. The project explores the intersection of fine art and high-drama ready-to-wear, using scale, color, and texture as active elements in the storytelling. Glowing neon light moved across paint, canvas, and clothing, blurring the line between environment and subject and turning the studio itself into part of the composition. Captured through a more disruptive lens, the work plays with how fashion and art visually converse across still imagery, video, and ASMR-style vignettes. Exaggerated hair and makeup pushed the styling into bolder territory, amplifying contrast and creating a heightened, immersive experience. The result is a piece that feels expressive and experimental—where fashion doesn’t sit beside the art, but collides with it—produced for PAPER Magazine as a study in energy, texture, and visual tension.
